Is Acupuncture safe?:
When acupuncture is performed by an appropriately trained practitioner, it is very safe. Occasionally a small
bruise may occur, but generally nothing more. Kyle has studied Traditional Chinese Medicine for 6 years to
University Masters Degree level and has so far performed around 25,000 individual treatments.
Is Acupuncture clean?
In this clinic, strict Universal Aseptic Technique is adhered to, using sterile,
single-use, disposable acupuncture pins and vinyl gloves for insertion and removal.
Does Acupuncture hurt?
Most people feel so relaxed during treatment that they fall asleep. One of the lovely things about having acupuncture treatment is that it promotes the release of endorphines and other feel-good reactions from within your body. This effect means that you will usually feel very relaxed and happy during and after a treatment. Occasionally a pin might feel a bit 'nippy’, if it irritates a free-nerve ending. But it can quickly be adjusted to become comfortable.
Children, who are generally more sensitive than adults, are quite happily treated in this clinic,
and are usually excited to tell their friends that they were ‘brave enough’ to have treatment and that
the treatment was not painful.
Do Herbs contain animal products?
None of the powdered or pill-form Chinese Herbs used in this clinic contain any animal products or endangered plants.
The majority are from sources like flowers, leaves, twigs, stems, roots and bark. Some of the
Bioceuticals supplements contain animal derived products (eg, fish oil, or condroitin) and clients
should be informed of this prior to prescription of those products.
What if I come for treatment and ‘chicken out’ on acupuncture?
Every patient is given the option to say “No” if they don’t feel like having a particular technique
used. We respect the autonomy and self-ownership of a person’s body and will only treat you with your
full consent. Anyone who feels a bit unsure is given the option of ‘just trying one pin’, and if
they don’t like it, then they do not have to continue. However, it is our experience that when
people realise that the kind of Acupuncture techniques used in this clinic are not painful, they
are usually delighted to proceed.
Can I claim from my private health fund?
Yes, all private health funds give a rebate on Acupuncture treatments and some as well on Chinese herbal consultation. Consult with your individual fund to find out the exact rebate that may be paid.
